In this blog, I will share personal stories about how I have been impacted by ADHD as a parent. I will tell you what I wish I had done differently at each stage of my son’s development. There is no simple answer or fix with ADHD. It’s complicated, just like people. We’re all different.
I will also share my successes. My son has done well, and I believe part of this is because of how we have addressed his difficulties each step of the way. He’s had tutoring, therapy, and medication management, added school supports, naturopathic interventions. We’ve focused on his strengths, like music. This process has been far from perfect (read my book, you’ll see). But we do our best to support him, and encourage his independence.
And I will share what I’ve learned (and continue to learn) about ADHD as a psychologist. I am a professional member of national organizations, like Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), and I attend annual workshops about ADHD. So get ready to join me in this journey. 🙂
